Taiwan launches a strategic industrial park to accelerate AI chip packaging for global tech giants.
Taiwan has initiated construction on a major advanced packaging hub in Kaohsiung. The Baipu Industrial Park serves as a strategic cornerstone for the global semiconductor supply chain.
TSMC plans to build two facilities dedicated to technology validation and talent training. Consequently, these sites will bolster the production of high-performance artificial intelligence chips.
Major firms like Nvidia and AMD rely on these sophisticated packaging techniques. President Lai Ching-te noted that AI development makes advanced packaging a vital global competition.
He mentioned that the park allows suppliers to test materials directly on-site. Furthermore, this proximity significantly reduces the time needed for mass production.
Local companies will also find it easier to join the elite chipmaking hierarchy. The Kaohsiung city government will provide the necessary factory infrastructure for the project.
Meanwhile, the designated area covers approximately 88.7 hectares of industrial land. This development complements existing TSMC operations in the nearby Nanzih Technology Industrial Park.
Authorities have assessed electricity requirements to ensure stability until 2035. Therefore, Taiwan aims to retain its technological dominance through integrated regional ecosystems.
