Perplexity chooses Nvidia’s Vera CPU to accelerate AI agent tasks in a major market shift.
Nvidia is shaking up the global data centre market. AI startup Perplexity confirmed plans to use the new Vera CPU. Consequently, the firm joins other giants in challenging Intel & Advanced Micro Devices. Nvidia expects to generate twenty billion dollars from these generic chips this year.
This strategy helps the company diversify as rivals build their own internal hardware. Furthermore, these new chips target a space long dominated by traditional silicon leaders. Many established processors were designed before the rise of complex digital agents.
However, AI agents operate continuously & perform tasks without human breaks. Perplexity executive Nate Kupp noted the new hardware executes tasks much faster. Therefore, the Vera CPU reportedly outperforms traditional alternatives by fifty per cent.
While specific volumes remain private, OpenAI & Anthropic have already committed to the tech. This shift signals a major evolution in how companies manage their data centres.
