The company deploys its AMPSTAR fleet to revolutionise industrial freight between Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
JSW Greentech launches its first commercial fleet of 100 electric trucks for heavy-duty freight operations.
JSW Greentech has secured its inaugural commercial contract for 100 AMPSTAR electric tractor trucks. These 55-tonne vehicles will serve JSW Cement’s industrial operations at the Vijayanagar facility. As a result, the fleet will transport clinker and slag along a 330-kilometre corridor. This route connects Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh with Vijayanagar in Karnataka.
Paradeep Parivahan Limited will manage the logistics for this massive transport project. Moreover, JSW Eco-Mobility will provide specialised Battery-as-a-Service solutions for the fleet. The operation aims to move about 1.25 lakh tonnes of cargo each month. This deployment follows the recent unveiling of the AMPSTAR brand.
The Automotive Research Association of India recently certified these electric tractor trucks for commercial use. As a result, JSW Eco-Mobility plans to install four battery-swapping stations along the primary transport route. These stations will significantly reduce vehicle downtime during long hauls. The initiative aims to save 4.5 crore litres of diesel during the operation.
The project also expects to prevent 6,250 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. CEO Sumit Mittal described this milestone as a crucial step for the AMPSTAR ecosystem. He emphasised the goal of building an integrated electric mobility network for heavy-duty freight. The company manufactures these vehicles at a new 90-acre facility in Maharashtra.
This greenfield plant can produce 15,000 electric buses and trucks annually. However, JSW also plans to enter the passenger-vehicle market soon. The group will launch its own SUV brand, JSW Motors, on December 4. This expansion highlights the company’s commitment to sustainable transport solutions across India.
