The UAE transport operator adds 2,000 extra seats to meet overwhelming demand for Abu Dhabi-Dubai travel.

Etihad Rail introduces additional weekend passenger trains connecting Abu Dhabi to meet rising inter-emirate travel demand.

The United Arab Emirates is witnessing a rapid shift in commuter habits. Operators have quickly expanded regional public transport infrastructure. Consequently, Etihad Rail increased weekend capacity between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The national rail network added six new passenger services. This move provided over 2,000 extra seats for eager travellers. The rapid expansion occurred days after the initial passenger launch.

Operations linking Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Al Dhaid began on September 30. Early passenger interest quickly exceeded initial network expectations. Therefore, the transport operator adapted to the overwhelming public response.

Company representatives confirmed that immense customer enthusiasm prompted the upgrade. They released more than 1,000 additional seats for Saturday. Meanwhile, Sunday services received an identical boost in passenger capacity.

The three extra daily trains operate on identical weekend schedules. A new service departs the capital at 12.14pm. Afterwards, a return journey leaves Dubai at 1.43pm.

A late afternoon train leaves Abu Dhabi at 4.43pm. Travellers purchased these new weekend tickets starting early Friday afternoon. Ultimately, this rail alternative represents a major regional transport milestone.
