The new Wind Apex vessel will transport and install turbines for the third phase of the massive UK offshore energy project.

Cadeler will deploy its new A-class vessel to install 87 turbines at the UK’s massive Dogger Bank C wind farm.

The UK is rapidly advancing its renewable energy infrastructure. As a result, large offshore projects require significant logistical support. Specifically, the Dogger Bank Wind Farm requires immense vessel capacity. This massive project will ultimately power six million British homes annually.

To meet these logistical demands, developers recently secured additional maritime support. As a result, offshore contractor Cadeler signed a firm transportation contract. The company will utilise its newbuild vessel to install turbines. This deployment marks a major step for the massive wind farm.

Developers call the third phase Dogger Bank C. Furthermore, this phase involves installing 87 large-scale offshore wind turbines. Cadeler will introduce its new Wind Apex vessel for this task. Operations for this specific installation campaign will begin in 2027.

This vessel is the third in Cadeler’s advanced A-class series. Additionally, it features exceptionally high deck load and crane capacities. These modern specifications easily enable the efficient installation of next-generation turbines. The ship will effectively work alongside existing vessels on site.

Dogger Bank operates as a joint venture off England’s coast. SSE and Equinor each hold a 40% stake. Meanwhile, Vårgrønn owns the remaining 20%. SSE currently manages the complex development and construction phases.

Eventually, Equinor will operate the completed site for 35 years. Cadeler executives said they were proud to support this ambitious development. Furthermore, they highlighted the strong relationships built with these energy partners. Trust remains vital for safely executing large-scale offshore campaigns.

Dogger Bank project leaders also expressed satisfaction with the agreement. They emphasised that securing specialist vessels guarantees timely project delivery. As a result, this extra capacity will support the successful installation phase. The team remains strictly focused on providing homegrown renewable electricity.
