Global fuel price surges force Akasa Air to revise domestic & international costs.
Akasa Air introduces fuel surcharges up to INR 1,150 for domestic routes amid rising oil prices.
Akasa Air has introduced a fresh fuel surcharge for domestic flights today. This decision follows a persistent rise in Aviation Turbine Fuel prices. The airline also updated its existing surcharges for international travel routes. Consequently, these revised costs apply to new bookings from 9 October.
Growing fuel expenses originate from current geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. These events put considerable pressure on the operating costs of the airline. Aviation fuel represents a very significant part of flight expenses. Therefore, the surcharge helps to balance the impact of rising oil costs.
Domestic fees now depend on the length of each flight sector. Travellers on routes under 500 kilometres will pay an extra INR 375. Journeys between 501 and 1,000 kilometres will carry a fee of INR 600. Medium flights up to 1,500 kilometres require a surcharge of INR 900.
The longest domestic sectors will attract a charge of INR 1,150. Furthermore, international services to locations like Thailand, Vietnam and the UAE now cost more. A fixed charge of INR 2,500 will apply to these one-way trips. The carrier describes this update as a measured response to the market.
Moreover, it notes the intense financial strain currently facing the aviation industry. Passengers booking future trips will immediately see these adjusted prices online.
