EUR/GBP stabilises near 0.8345 as markets anticipate a potential rate hike amid shifting economic data.
Currency markets remain highly cautious as the Euro and British Pound await a critical monetary policy decision from the Bank of England.
Financial markets remain in a cautious holding pattern. Investors are awaiting the Bank of England’s latest decision. The Euro shows limited movement against the British Pound. The EUR/GBP pair currently trades near 0.8345.
This stability follows a notable plunge of over three per cent. Previously, the pair posted heavy losses over five weeks. As a result, market participants are delaying major investment decisions. They await clearer signals from Thursday’s crucial monetary policy meeting.
Analysts widely expect the central bank to raise rates. A projected 25-basis-point hike would push rates to 4%. Consequently, this anticipation has kept the Pound relatively strong recently. However, policymakers might suddenly dampen expectations for future monetary tightening.
Such a conservative stance could ultimately disappoint currency traders. As a result, the British Pound might enter a rapid downward trajectory. Conversely, the Euro currently benefits from sharply falling oil prices. Lower energy costs typically provide substantial support for the common currency.
Nevertheless, disappointing economic data has hindered a full European recovery. Recent German factory orders fell noticeably short of market expectations. Technical indicators also point to a complex trading environment. The price action currently forms a distinct symmetrical triangle pattern.
Market momentum appears highly balanced across the four-hour trading charts. The relative strength index hovers just below the neutral mark. The moving average convergence divergence also indicates modest bullish pressure. Therefore, buyers must break above the 0.8350 cap to take control.
Breaking specific resistance levels would confirm a true bullish correction. These vital targets sit precisely at 0.8363 and 0.8380. Alternatively, the current triangle’s lower boundary sits at 0.8335. A significant drop below the critical 0.8320 support changes everything.
Such a bearish reaction would shift investor focus downwards. As a result, the March 2025 lows near 0.8315 would become relevant. Further selling pressure could expose the February 2025 baseline around 0.8250. Ultimately, the market’s direction depends on the upcoming interest rate announcement.
