Discover how e.l.f. is using nostalgic stop-motion to celebrate individuality this holiday season.

e.l.f. Beauty recently launched its first-ever holiday campaign. This project uses handmade stop-motion animation to tell a story. The campaign, titled “e.l.f. Made to Stand Out”, celebrates individuality. Actor Alan Cumming narrates the tale with his signature wit.

The narrative follows three close friends as they reunite during the holidays. They navigate social insecurities while finding strength in their differences. Chief Marketing Officer Oshiya Savur highlighted the value of uniqueness. Specifically, she stated that handcrafted art reflects individual personality.

Savur explained that the brand wants consumers to see themselves in these characters. As a result, the team created a world with a strong personality. Recent statistics suggest that nostalgia drives many consumer product purchases. As a result, the brand chose analogue storytelling for this festive season.

The campaign features popular products, including Thirst Burst Drops. These items appear alongside characters who exhibit specific personality traits. Alan Cumming expressed his admiration for the creative artistry involved. He noted that the characters possess unique qualities worth celebrating.

Cumming suggested people shouldn’t hide their personal differences. Instead, these traits make every individual special. Director Cami Kwan led the intricate production process. Notably, women made up 90% of the puppet team.

The entire animation team was all women. This approach aligns with the brand’s commitment to empowerment. The campaign debuted across digital platforms on 2nd November 2026. It will also appear in physical retail locations soon.

Consumers can expect to see the visuals in major stores. This marks a significant milestone for the cosmetic brand.
