Avantel secures a major contract to supply satellite gear for Indian Railways’ tracking systems.
Indian Railways is set to enhance its operational efficiency through a major technological upgrade. Avantel Limited recently secured a substantial ₹177.35 crore contract for this purpose. This significant order comes from Zetwerk Manufacturing Businesses Limited.
The agreement focuses on the supply of advanced satellite communication equipment. These units will support the Real-Time Train Information System across the national network. Consequently, the railway authority aims to automate the collection of movement data for all trains.
The new technology allows passenger and goods trains to transmit data directly to control offices. This transition eliminates manual recording errors in the Control Office Application. Therefore, the system ensures more reliable tracking of the entire rail fleet.
Additionally, the project highlights a growing reliance on high-quality indigenous technologies within the country. Avantel expects to complete the delivery of this specialised gear by March 2027. This effort specifically strengthens the nation’s strategic communication infrastructure.
Siddhartha Abburi, a director at the firm, expressed satisfaction with this valuable purchase order. He noted that the deal reflects deep trust in their manufacturing and execution capabilities. Furthermore, he emphasised their commitment to fostering technological self-reliance.
